Choosing what goes in, branding, and turning the report off
The report template screen: your own title, sections on and off, an introduction and conclusion in your own words, attaching the PDF. Where branding comes from, how to reset, how to switch the report off — and what the template deliberately does not do.
The default report is complete: everything WP Safer measured, in a fixed order. If you forward it to a client, you may want it shorter, in your own words and under your own name. That is what Monitoring → Report template is for.
The screen shapes the document — the shareable page and the PDF. The summary in the e-mail keeps its standard layout.
A title of your own
The title appears on the cover, in the PDF footer and in the e-mail subject area. Leave it empty and the report is called Maintenance report. It is a single line, up to 80 characters.
Sections on and off
Each block of the report — the overview, backups, updates, uptime, Site Health, file integrity and expiring soon — can be switched off, and each can be given a heading of your own (up to 60 characters). A client who never asked about Site Health does not need a Site Health section.
Two rules keep this honest:
- Uptime cannot be switched off. A maintenance report with every section removed would be an empty page with a logo on it. If you do not want the report at all, turn the report off rather than emptying it.
- Switching a section on does not create data. A section whose source is not available stays out of the document even when the switch is on. The template can hide something; it cannot invent it.
Your own words
Two optional blocks, off by default: an introduction at the top and a conclusion at the bottom, each with its own heading and up to 1,000 characters. The introduction is where you say what this document is and who prepared it; the conclusion is where you say what you did this month or what you recommend next — the part of a report a client actually reads.
Both are plain text. Formatting and links are removed when the text is saved, because the same document opens on someone else's screen and nothing typed into it should be able to place markup there. They appear on the shareable page and in the PDF.
Attaching the PDF
One switch on the same screen attaches the PDF to the monthly e-mail. The link is in the e-mail either way; the attachment simply saves you a click.
Branding
Branding is not on this screen, and that is deliberate: the report uses the brand you already entered for your status page, so there is only one place to keep it up to date. Logo, brand name, colour, and the option to remove the “powered by WP Safer” line all come from Monitoring → Status page.
Branded reports are part of the Agency plan. On the other paid plans the report is complete but carries WP Safer's name; on Agency, if you have not filled in the status page settings yet, the report falls back to WP Safer branding rather than making something up.
The address the e-mail is sent from remains ours. Reports are not sent from your own domain.
Starting over
Reset to default clears your template. It does not restore a snapshot of the old settings; it puts the account back to “no template”, so the report is laid out the standard way — including any improvement to the default made later.
Turning the report off
Open Monitoring → Alert channels. The monthly report card there has a single on/off switch for your account, and a See a sample button that renders the real e-mail from your own data for last month.
Switching it off stops the e-mail. It does not stop any measurement: uptime checks, backups and updates carry on exactly as before, and the report screens still work — you can open last month's report from the panel whenever you want one. Switch it back on inside the first seven days of a month and that month's report can still be sent.
What the template does not cover
So there is no doubt about what you are setting up:
- The report goes to your account address only — there is no list of client recipients and no per-client sending.
- The schedule is fixed at once a month, for the month just ended. There is no weekly or quarterly report.
- The sections are the ones listed above. There is no drag-and-drop builder, no custom block, and no way to add data from another service.
- The e-mail body itself is not editable per account.
